On-call schedule generator

List your team, pick daily or weekly handoffs, a handoff time and a time zone, and get the whole rotation: who is on call when, hours per person, and a calendar file to import into a shared calendar. It runs in your browser; the names you type are not sent anywhere.

12 shifts, handing off every week at 09:00 UTC. Hours each: Alex 504h, Sam 504h, Priya 504h, Jordan 504h.

Want alerts to page whoever is on call? RealUptime Monitor Pro runs this same rotation with escalation: invite these people, add the rotation under On-call, and it hands off at exactly these times. Start free, then upgrade when you turn on-call on.

How the rotation is built

Turns go in the order you list people and repeat. Each handoff happens at the same local time in the zone you choose, so a 09:00 Monday handoff stays at 09:00 across daylight saving changes; that week is an hour shorter or longer, and the hours column shows it. The iCal file stores each shift in UTC, so every calendar shows it at the right moment in the reader’s own zone.

To share the rota, import the .ics file into a shared Google or Outlook calendar. Importing an updated file again replaces the same shifts rather than duplicating them.

Daily or weekly?

Weekly is the common default: one handoff a week, usually on a weekday morning so the outgoing person can brief the next. Daily suits a large team or a noisy service where a full week of pages is too much for one person. With fewer than four people a weekly rota puts someone on call every few weeks, which is the point to add people or cut alert noise.

From a calendar to a page

A calendar tells people when they are on call; it does not wake them up. RealUptime Monitor Pro runs the same rotation with escalation: when a check fails, it pages whoever is on call now, and if they do not acknowledge, the next step in the policy. Overrides cover swaps and holidays without editing the rota.
